Did you know that you were once a star? It's true! Find out how this happened on February 8th at the Regency Theater in San Juan Capistrano where you will watch Carl Sagan's widely-acclaimed series COSMOS. In “The Lives of the Stars”, Doctor Sagan demonstrates subatomic particles by dissecting a slice of pie and then takes us on a journey to learn about the birth, life and death of stars. We see how life on Earth was a result of the star stuff of exploding supernovae millions of years ago.
UCI Physics Professor Michael Dennin continues the topic with his own presentation of the cycle from trying to make lead into gold leading to understanding why we cannot make lead into gold to how we would turn lead into gold! Professor Dennin recently won the Education-Portal.com’s OCW People’s Choice Awards.
Future presenters are Bill Nye "The Science Guy", UCI James Bullock, and Garrett Lisi, author of "An Exceptionally Simple Theory of Everything".
